How do we determine our fees?
We carefully calculate our fees to be as low as possible while allowing us to keep our doors open. We set our fees based on principles of ACCESSIBILITY, EQUITY, and SUSTAINABILITY.
Accessibility
We are committed to keeping our services accessible to community members with limited resources. We strive to be transparent and flexible with fees as part of our movement lawyering mission.
Many of our cases are offered on a flat-fee basis so you know how much you will owe up front, and the cost never changes, no matter how many hours we work. We can offer other cases on a contingency or partial contingency basis, where we keep a portion of any settlement you receive so you pay less up front. We also offer payment plans and sliding scale fees, as we’re able.

Equity
Legal representation has traditionally been limited to the wealthy and powerful. PDC aims to change that. Our lawyers are committed to this work because of our belief in collective justice, not to get rich.
The average lawyer in Washington charges $346 per hour. PDC’s fees are much lower.
